Biblical Teaching No. 4 by Rev Dr S.K. Thomas –
How can we be REAL for God?
For example, how can we as ministers/fathers/mothers/husbands/wives so live for Christ in order that our families, children and grandchildren will want to live for Christ?
What are the ingredients toward being what God desires in order we may become the person God wants us to be?
Every place in this teaching, I (S.K Thomas) have used the word “MAN” in my notes it could mean the wife (man and woman) as well or a single Christian adult or youth. So these Biblical truths can be applied to every Christian who desires “to be used” for God’s glory.
Not in other people, or yourself, but in the Word of God, in GOD Himself.
(Look up the following verses, meditate on them for your own personal growth and Christian maturity  –  Psalms 138:2; II Pet. 1:20-21; I Thess. 2:13; Matt. 4:4, I John 5:1-4; II Thess. 1:11-12; Joshua 1:6-9; II Tim. 2:1-22 ).
A.  Use the Bible to cleanse your mind of un-scriptural ideas, philosophies, etc.    Saturate your heart with the Word of God (the BIBLE).
B.  Sever any relationship with others that will adversely affect your lifeDon’t buddy with those who reject the truth of the Word of God.  Don’t become their companion. (Psa. 1:1-6; I Cor. 15:33; II Tim. 2:22)
C. Cleanse your life of unnecessary distractions which keep you from reading, studying, memorizing and meditating on the Scriptures.
Questions to ask :  Does TV and Internet control your life?   Do you have sport interests, hobbies, etc. that control your life?  Have you replaced what is wrong, empty, vain or sinful with what is right and pleasing to God?  Have you put good influences in your home like good books, missionary stories, pictures, scriptures posters etc.?   (Check on what your children read and listen to).
D.  Stand up for the Lord on the job or business.
I Pet. 3:13-16; 4:12-19 :  Are you living for the Lord on the job?  Are you witnessing where you can, sharing the Word and manifesting a changed life in Christ?
Are you required to be dishonest or deceptive or to compromise your convictions where you work?  Has God ever convicted you about changing jobs?  Are the demands of your job destroying your family by forcing you to sacrifice time with God and with your family?
3.   BECOME A MAN OF DISCERNMENT!    I Cor. 2:9-14; II Cor. 10:3-5
The devil is against the Bible!  He will try to destroy the effectiveness of the Word of God in your life. You must have victory over him (satan).  Every person must have a plan to memorize and meditate the Word of God daily.
Motivate yourself to memorize. . .  for only by the knowledge of the Word of God will you have the discernment you desperately need to lead your family.
  1.  Have a specific goal.
  2.  Be accountable to someone.
  3.  Motivate yourself to have a reachable plan, and do it.
  4.  Attach a consequence when it is not done!!
Discernment comes only through the Word of God!
The basic conviction is that all Scripture is the inspired Word of God, and the final authority for your LIFE.   II Tim. 3:15-17.
This CONVICTION means certain things:
A.  The Bible is God’s message to man – not man’s message about God  (II Pet. 2:20-21).  (This is the problem with many preachers today)
B. Every writer wrote without error as he was led by the Holy Spirit!   (Psa. 12:6; Matt. 5:18; II Pet. 1:19-21; Heb. 4:12; John 5:29)
C. God was not limited to the writer’s knowledge I Pet. 1:10, 12
D.  The Holy Spirit teaches ME (US) to understand the interpretation of God’s Word and its application in day to day living.  II Pet. 1:20; John 16:12-13; Matt. 7:28-29; John 14:26; Heb. 4:12
E. My ability to understand the Bible is not determined by my intellectual skills, but by my RELATIONSHIP to the Holy Spirit. Rom. 1:21; II Thess. 2:11-12; I Cor. 2:9-12
F. The Bible MUST BE my only (final) authority in all the decisions of life.   Psa. 37:4-5; Psalms 1.
G. The Words of the Bible are life-giving expressions of God’s wisdom and character.    II Tim. 3:16; Col. 3:15-16; II Pet. 1:4
H. The Word of God (the BIBLE) can and should be used to conquer the power of Satan in my life.   Matt. 4:4-7; I Pet. 5:7-8; James 4:7
A.  Recognizing that. . .  ( Prov. 4:23; 23:7; Matt 12:33-35 )
  1.  An independent spirit is the basis of DISLOYALTY.
    2.   A condemning spirit is the basis of SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS.
    3.  An ungrateful spirit is the basis of DISSATISFACTION (discontentment).
    4.  A lazy spirit is the basis of DISHONESTY.
    5.  A bitter spirit is the basis of UNFORGIVENESS.
    6.  A demanding spirit is the basis of SELFISHNESS.
    7.  An impure spirit is the basis of SELF-INDULGENCE.
B. Recognizing you need…
1.  A reverent spirit.
2. The practice of a thankful spirit.   Eph. 5:20;  I Thess. 5:18
3. The practice of a humble spirit and soul.  James 4:6-10;  I Pet. 5:5
4. The practice of a servant’s heart.   Matt. 20:28
5. The practice of a loyal spirit.   I Cor. 15:58
5.   BE A MAN THAT SEEKS TO GUARD HIS CHILDREN!….From sin, moral impurity, etc.
  1. Consecrate your child (children) to God.
    2. Teach your child to be alert to your spirit and to God’s Spirit.
    3. Develop in his or her life the “fear of God.”
    4. Give the child a sense of destiny, or worth, of what they mean to the Lord.
    5. Guide the child to “total” surrender to the Lord.
    6. Bring them to the assurance of personal salvation.
    7. Train the child to stand alone.
    8. Teach the child to discern character.
    9. Saturate the child’s heart and life with the Word of God.
    10. Show him or her the consequences of sin.
    11. Teach them to witness and to edify others.
    12. Support him or her with your own fervent prayers.
God Bless!
Dear Friends and Brethren in Christ,
I am very pleased to post in my blog the Biblical teachings of Rev Dr S.K Thomas, who have trained many Apostles, Evangelists and Church leaders over his many years of local and international ministry. I am truly blessed to meet the man of God who shares freely the power and authority of God’s Word for all of us so that we can live victoriously in Christ Jesus. He said to me one day in our fellowship meeting, “To Freely Receive and Freely Give What The Lord Has Blessed”. I am touched with his sincerity, humility and love to always raise up and equipping new leaders everywhere for the work of the Kingdom.
So, be very blessed to use the materials for your own edification and learning, for teaching and for reaching out to others with the inspiring Word of God. I will continue to post other teachings of Rev Dr. Samuel Thomas as well, so be patient and do stay in touch. God Bless all of you wherever you are.
Your Brother In Christ,
Ezra Chim
Post No. 4
Dear Friends,
Be blessed by these messages and studies in the Word of God. God’s Word (The Bible) provides all the answers to life’s problems.  His Word will make you wise. The Book of Proverbs says that if you get wisdom, you will also get life, riches and honor!
“Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4:4.
