Deuteronomy 27:23 (NKJV)  : 23 ‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
Just imagine close to two million God’s chosen people standing on a riverbed in the wilderness journey to the promise land, declaring together that they will not have sex with their mother-in-law! (Deuteronomy 27:23).  It happened!  Here in Deuteronomy 27, Moses prepares the Israelites for this public declaration of God’s commands. At this point in history, the Righteous GOD was laying the moral foundations for nationhood. Israel came a long way from a small family unit to a nation of people in the wilderness. These commands given to the nation of Israel are still applicable to us as believers in Jesus Christ.
Every intercessor and prayer warrior should be familiar with this passage in Deut 27 because it lists the conditions of God’s curses on a nation. Those who want to see curses and satanic strongholds broken should first understand the pattern of disobedience that led God to withdraw His blessings in the first place.
When we encounter a spiritual stronghold, it is not a testimony to the presence of a big and evil demon but rather to the absence of the GLORY of GOD (Matt 12:43-45). We have an enemy who swarms to rebellion, destruction and corruption. This enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). Satan’s strongholds are the places of unresolved guilt and wounding within our lands (Eph 4:26-27).
In order to welcome back God’s blessing and glory, we have to begin with REPENTANCE (individually and corporately) and move in OBEDIENCE to the LORD’S commands. We can triumph over the evil one when we know how to battle him with the written Word, the mighty Sword of the Spirit. Let’s explore some of the powerful Truths :
1. The Lord exhorts HIS OWN PEOPLE to pray and intercede for the nations. IF MY PEOPLE…..
– 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV),
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2. We stand and proclaim the living Word of God in every situation. We counter every negative situation with the living and written WORD OF GOD, the BIBLE.
Psalm 18:30 NKJV
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
– Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
– Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
– Jeremiah 15:16
Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.
3. The Lord God fights our battles. What a great privilege, O people of God!
– 2 Chronicles 32:8
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
4. Jesus Christ is the ETERNAL WORD! He is our King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is our “ALL IN ALL.” He is the REIGNING KING!
John 1:1-4 (NKJV) The Eternal Word : 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
– John 10:10 (NKJV) Jesus said :
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
5. We as believers overcomes the world in Christ Jesus. Time to put on a winner’s mindset. And Not to be a loser and a defeatist anymore in life. We are set free!  Hallelujah!
– 1 John 5:4-5 (NKJV)
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
– Romans 8:31 (NKJV) . The ALMIGHTY God is FOR us!
[ God’s Everlasting Love ] What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
– Jesus Christ said in Revelation 1:8 (NKJV) :
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” He is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. He is the SOVEREIGN LORD and KING! He is the great “I AM.”
Prayer :
Lord Jesus, You are our Lord and Savior. Even when we see the chaos and destruction that is happening in our world today, we know that YOU are in control and know all things.
We ask and pray for the forgiveness of our own sins and sins of our nations. The world is so broken by sin and we as believers, ask YOU to forgive all our iniquity and rebellion. We come boldly to the throne of grace through your shed blood on the cross of Calvary to ask for mercy and compassion.
Lay the burdens in our hearts to pray and intercede for the nations that are in control of the evil one. Send us your healing “Balm of Gilead” to heal and restore what the enemy has stolen from us through the ages.
Thank you for Your Love, Mercy and Compassion on us.
May we see Your Wondrous Glory be manifested in our days?

15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”

Blessings on Obedience
28 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:
3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
4 “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
7 “The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
8 “The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
9 “The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. 10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you.
12 The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
